I've just heard (via Troels Forchhammer on the "Tolkien Usenet
Newsgroups" Facebook group) that Mike Scott Rohan, an author who used
to post here often, passed away yesterday. I haven't found official
verification of that yet, but the word does seem to be spreading
pretty widely. Mike was an active and appreciated part of our
community, so I'm sad to hear that he's gone. I figure that the
handful of folks who still visit here might want to know.

Oh, god: another of us gone, and not just from the newsgroups. Even
though it's been a very long time since he last posted anything here,
it's still sad to permantently lose another member of the community.

I found out of this death via the Wikipedia "Deaths in 2018" page,
but shame on the Facebookers if they are not shooing people to post
here instead of there.
